CROPTHORNE driver James Calado had a GP2 meeting to forget alongside the British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone.

In the Silverstone feature race, the 23-year-old failed to finish after stopping on the track by the pit lane exit, prompting a safety car period to remove the stricken vehicle.

He then finished 20th in the sprint race and is joint fourth in the drivers’ standings with Max Chilton on 95 points behind leader Luiz Razia (165), Davide Valsecchi (159) and Lotus GP teammate Esteban Gutiérrez (122).

Calado received a 10-place grid drop for the next round’s feature race in Hockenheim, Germany, later this month for causing a collision with fellow Brit Chilton.
