Runners get ready for 10k

EVESHAM Vale Running Club are confident of a record entry for their annual 10-kilometre race on Sunday with more than 600 people signed up so far.

Athletes can opt to take part on the day from 8.30am at Evesham Town Hall with last year’s male and female winners, Richard Simkiss and Wyre Piddle’s Emma Gooderham, back to defend their titles.

Three women dressed as superheroes will be running and collecting money for the Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust. A last-minute adjustment has been made to the course due to the condition of the bell tower.

Safety reasons mean a small detour is necessary but they will still pass by the tower as it is featured on the bespoke medals for all finishers.

The main race starts at 10.30am, courtesy of Mayor Robert Raphael and Olympian Jo Deakins, with the fun run beginning at noon.
