Powell in double trouble

SPAIN PAIN: Alice Powell SPAIN PAIN: Alice Powell

ALICE Powell endured a frustrating time at the European Grand Prix after getting caught up in two incidents.

The Chipping Norton racer finished 18th in the first race of the Formula One-supporting GP3 series in Valencia, Spain, after skidding on oil.

She was then winded after contact with the car of Alex Brundle, son of ex-F1 driver Martin, in race two sent her vehicle flying into the air.

It brought an end to what had been a promising weekend for Powell having finished a career-best ninth in practice and qualifying in 11th.

Powell said: “It started out well and it shows I am getting closer and getting used to the GP3 car.
