Wheeler colides with car
11:20am Thursday 21st June 2012 in Sport
SIMON Wix’s 100-mile time trial hopes were scuppered after the Evesham Wheelers cyclist was in collision with a car.
While on track for a fast time on the A46 course near Cirencester, he emerged unscathed from the accident but then punctured a tyre, forcing him to abandon the race 12 miles short.
Previously, battling against strong crosswinds, Wix clocked 23 minutes nine seconds in the Redditch club’s open 10-mile time trial at Dunnington.
David Nash impressed with 14th in the Concorde Road Race Series at Sutton Coldfield.
Wheelers members also completed a 46-mile midweek run.
A group also headed for the Cotswold Farm Park on a demanding 45-mile route which took in Belas Knap.
Sunday’s runs are to Bromyard and Astwood Bank, leaving Evesham High Street at 9.15am.
