PERSHORE Swimming Club just missed out on a podium place as they finished fourth in the PGL League final.
Competing against seven other teams — winners Stourbridge, runners-up Worcester, Cheltenham, Evesham, Redditch, Oldbury and Ross — youngsters managed 10 first places and 22 personal bests (pbs).
Jack Betteridge won the 12 and under boys’ 50-metre backstroke in 40.70 seconds, and Hannah Simister took the 11 and under girls’ breaststroke in 21.28 (pb).
Tessa Carr won the 12 and under girls’ 50m breaststroke in 46.68 and Isobel Cumming the 11 and under girls’ 25m butterfly in 19.43 (pb). Tom Bailey won both the 25m freestyle and backstroke in the 10 and under category.
Luke Betteridge, J Taite, Drew Jones and William Gearey were also successful, the latter swimming up an age group in the 10 years and under section.
