George has VIP PGA trip at course

SPECIAL Olympics competitor George Hutchings was welcomed to the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth by Irish star Padraig Harrington.

The 20-year-old from Burmington, near Shipston-on- Stour, joined other Great Britain golfers as a guest of the European Tour.

They were treated to a VIP day with managing director Julian Small taking them on a private tour of the clubhouse.

Hutchings plays off a handicap of 12 and is a member of Oxfordshire’s Feldon Valley Golf Club where he won their winter league cup and a round of the autumn classic competition as well as hitting a hole-in-one.

He made his Special Olympics GB debut at The Belfry four years ago and recorded the individual score of the day at Staverton Park last year.

Hutchings, who has learning disabilities, also plays in the Disability Open in East Sussex every year.
