Pershore drop out of league

PERSHORE have dropped out of the South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League Premier Division due to a lack of players.
Their record has been deleted which means Stratfordupon- Avon ‘B’, who beat the town side 4-0 the previous week, fell from second spot to fifth.
The league committee are to consider imposing penalties on teams quitting in mid-season.
Meanwhile, Stratford ‘A’ beat Claverdon 4-0 to open up a six-point lead at the top, while Shipston-on-Stour’s 3-1 win over Henley-in-Arden took them into second place.
For Shipston, Adam Moran and James Hudson beat Neil Supperstone and Max Retallack 6-4, 6-3 and Chris Cardwell and Milan Mazic 6-1, 6-1.
William Welch and Tobias Kemp defeated Cardwell and Mazic 6-2, 6-1 but lost to Supperstone and Retallack 4-6, 6-2, 0-1 (7-10).
Claverdon defeated Evesham 4-0 and are third.
Evesham pairs Andrew Crowther and Ray Foster- Morison and John Clarke and Ruth Lynton were unable to prevent their whitewash.
In Division One, leaders Bidford- on-Avon were again held to a 2-2 draw, this time by joint bottom-of-the-table Whitnash.
Second-placed Ardencote Manor also drew 2-2 with the other joint-bottom team Inkberrow.
Chipping Campden enjoyed a close win over Littleton and overtook them for third spot.
Division Two saw only one change to the table as Ullenhall recorded a 4-0 win over bottom-placed Littleton ‘B’ to go joint top with Claverdon ‘B’.
Studley ‘B’ increased their lead to five points to top Division Three after beating Shipston- on-Stour ‘B’ 4-0.
In Division Four, Inkberrow ‘B’ lead after a 4-0 win over previously-unbeaten Moreton- in-Marsh.
Snitterfield were held to a 2-2 draw at Pershore ‘B’, HDA Redditch beat Chipping Campden ‘C’ 3-1 and Inkberrow ‘C’ saw off Alcester ‘C’ 3-1.
Ardencote ‘B’ pulled clear at the top of Division Five following their 4-0 win over Moreton-in-Marsh ‘B’, while Claverdon ‘C’ beat Bidford ‘B’ 4-0.
