Angling - Walker in a Jubilee Centenary triumph

EVESHAM Jubilee Angling Society’s Centenary Trophy match on Jubilee Pool saw 30 anglers celebrate their 114th year.

Richard Walker won from J5 peg with 46lbs 12oz ahead of second-placed Mark Birbeck with 40-4 from J40.

Section wins went to Steve Foster (34-9), Ade Field (31-4), Phil Seedhouse (29-0), Chris Taylor (16-0), Richard Ford (12-6) and Doug Smith (7-12).

The trophy will be presented tomorrow during the club’s presentation evening at Hampton WMC.

• Evesham Youth AC met at Manor Farm Fisheries for the fourth of their five-round Townsend Lake series on Ash pool.

Reece Grinnell continued his winning streak by bagging 40lbs of carp to put him in a good position to take the series but there is still one more match to go.

Juniors: 1 Grinnell 40-0, 2 Tom Williams 22-0, 3 Harry Stephens 17-0; seniors: 1 Maurice Taylor 48-0, 2 Paul Williams 43-0, 3 Shawn Townsend 33-0.

• Ninety-five anglers took part in Mosella Manor Farm Leisure’s annual five-day spring fishing festival on the Ash, Island, Middle, Windmill and Boundary pools.

With the silvers spawning two days before the festival and the F1s feeding on the spawn, along with a cold north-east wind, the average weights were considerably down over the week.

But there were still 21 catches over the 100lbs mark with the best being 204 on day three by Daiwa’s Steve Ford off Island peg 37.

The overall winner was Neil Richards with two section wins and three second places with a total points tally of eight.

He beat Steve Ford, who had three section successes, a second and a sixth to end on 11. Methods used were worm and caster, banded pellet, bread and maggot, while groundbait feeder fared well on the Boundary pool.

Final placings: 1 Richards (DGL/Cotswold Angling) 8 points, 2 Ford (DGL) 11, 3 Matt Smith (Bagem), Steve Burgess (Garbolino Elton) 12, 5 Mark Malin (Mosella/Bait- Tech) 14, 6 Tony Healy (Leigh Tackle & Bait), Andrew Quarmby (Middy) 15, 8 Craig Ebbrell (Maver Midlands), James Howarth (Mosella Garbolino), Jap Clarke (Spenborough) 16.

Island Pool: 1 Chris Cameron (Middy, peg 23) 107-12, 2 Tony Shields (Blackpool AC, peg 35) 96-12, 3 Alan Duggan (Fleetwood Reservoir, peg 17) 91-8. Sixteen fished.

Boundary Pool: 1 Neil McKinnon (Preston Innovations, peg 25) 37-4, 2 Rich Hoskins (DGL, peg 22) 24-12, 3 Ian McCulloch (Team MFS, peg 34) 18-4. Twenty-eight fished.
