Ace stand ensures Badsey in the points

BADSEY defeated Overbury seconds by four wickets in Cotswold Hills League Division Four.

Putting the hosts into bat, Overbury were all out for 174 after a 78-run partnership between David Bull (37) and J Taylor (37) got them from 65-3 to 161-5.

John Osborne also took 4-32 as he helped to finish the hosts off.

Badsey lost David Wheatley in the sixth over of their reply with a second wicket falling in the next to leave them 19-2.

A third-wicket partnership of 92 developed between Michael Powell (64) and Sam Thomson (56) before the former fell to R Lancelot in the 25th over and Elliot Thompson went three overs later with Badsey on 119-4.

Tim Evans (34 not out) and Thomson took the score to 158 before the latter fell to T Justice (3-34) in the 39th over with a further wicket toppling next ball.

Needing 17 to win off six overs, Evans took Badsey over the line with 19 balls to spare.

Badsey seconds lost to Leamington fourths by eight wickets.

Leamington bowled the home side out for 59 in 27 overs, with 16-year-old Joe Gisbourne finishing unbeaten on 27.

Sam Attwood and Dominic Berry took the only two wickets as the visitors reached their target in 22 overs.

􀁥􀁥 Broadway beat Bearley by three wickets in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division.

Put into bat first after losing the toss, newly-promoted Bearley were all out for 138, with captain Lee Ross topscoring with 49, aided by 24 extras, while Andy Beale took 5-29.

Broadway captain Gary Evans fell to the first ball of the reply and the hosts slumped to 40-5.

However, Jamie Powell wrestled the initiative back with 34 off a single over on his way to an unbeaten 62 as Broadway reached their target.

Broadway seconds defeated Rowington seconds by four wickets, having dismissed their opponents for just 72.
