BLOCKEY continued their West Clubs Women’s League Severn Division One title pursuit with a 6-3 success at Gloucester thirds.

They took the upper hand straight from the whistle as Olivia Drinkwater put away the opening goal within the first minute.

Blockley pressed hard and were awarded a short corner that resulted in Sabrina Rew cleanly striking the ball past the keeper for the second goal.

Fine passing and teamwork saw Drinkwater score her second which was closely followed by a Fiona Drinkwater strike.

Solid defending by captain Alice Drinkwater, Sam Jones, Beth Gum and Donna Whitehouse ensured Gloucester were unable to score in the first-half.

In the second period, Blockley extended the lead with a well-worked goal from playerof- the-match Teri Brown.

However, the hosts began a fightback and pulled the scoreline back to 5-3, only for Olivia Drinkwater to complete her third hat-trick in consecutive weeks just before end.
