JOE Lolley scored six as Littleton moved into second place in Midland Combination Division One with an 8-1 demolition of Phoenix.

Lolley’s tally equalled the club record for goals in one game and matches the efforts of Matt Smith, who scored six against West Midlands Police last season.

The first 10 minutes gave no hint of the carnage to come, but a three-minute hat-trick from Lolley effectively sealed the game.

The first came on 12 minutes when Simon Brain set Lolley up to convert from close range.

Then, two minutes later, a Chris Mills header put Lolley through and he finished again.

The third arrived 60 seconds later and was the result of a quick free-kick from Tom Allard, which allowed Lolley a tap-in.

Lolley scored his fourth 10 minutes before the break. His initial shot was blocked but the ball fell to Allard who played in his team-mate to extend the hosts’ lead.

Within three minutes of the restart it was 5-0 and again Lolley was the scorer, heading in a Brain free-kick.

On 67 minutes, Allard scored from an acute angle before Lolley got his sixth and the team’s seventh four minutes from time following a corner.

Phoenix managed a late consolation but there was still time for Allard to net his second and complete the scoring.

Littleton visit Shirley on Saturday (3pm).
