Harvington 111-6, Dumbleton 94-5.

IN their opening overs of this Worcestershire Cricket Board League clash, Callum Carson and John Fish soon had Harvington openers, Nick Powell and Derek Austin, on the back foot.

But a loose third over went for 14 which saw Harvington up and running.

But line and length pegged them back and some good fielding saw Powell and his replacement, Jaimen Rudd, both run out to reduce Harvington to 61-2 after seven overs.

Although the bowling was lacking in penetration, Dumbleton were tight in the field and Adam Lee and Austin found runs at a premium.

With only 85 scored after 10 overs, Dumbleton were on top. Harvington lost two wickets in both the last two overs, but Austin, with his son Lewis ,added 13 in the last over to post a healthy target of 111.

Skipper Pete Boorman and Carson took 30 off the first three overs and Dumbleton were racing away.

But a swinging full toss from Powell took out Boorman’s off-stump and the landscape of the game changed.

Fish was well caught by Lee off Rudd and then James Towey struck twice to bowl Andy Powell and have Matt Nicholson caught at short mid on.

When Towey struck again to dismiss Carson the writing was on the wall.

Giles Lancaster added 30 but Harvington won by 17 runs.

The Boxmen 121-3, Temple Grafton 109-5.

STUART Tame and Jason Haines could not cope with Temple Grafton openers, Dan Gould and Adam Waters, and they struggled to get the scoreboard moving.

Then Gould bowled Tame and new batsman Ed Glynn put on 25 with Haines, giving him most of the bowling.

But a series of wides changed the picture. With Haines run out in the seventh over, skipper John Lawrence was also run out for 15.

Ollie May and Aaron Brown added 20 in the last two overs to post a score of 121-3, which included 35 wides.

Temple Grafton were in trouble from the start with Gould run out in the first over.

In the second, Glynn had Andy McArthur caught behind by Tame to reduce the Grafters to 11-2.

May then had Mark Selby well caught by Lawrence and in the next over John Moore was run out to have Temple Grafton struggling on 48-4 after six overs.

When May bowled Waters in the eighth over, the Boxmen were in charge.

But skipper Carl Page (50) took 15 off the ninth over to have 90 on the board with three overs left.

But the Boxmen recorded their first win of the season with the Grafters ending up 12 runs short.
