Old Colstonians 23, Tewkesbury 34.
BEFORE this Gloucester Premier clash got under way a decision was made to move to a different pitch due to hard ground on one of the touch-lines in a game marred by a serious injury.
Then on the stroke of half-time, Tewkesbury’s Rob Davis suffered a severe neck injury and had to be air lifted to hospital.
The game was moved again to one of Colstonian other pitches to make room for the air ambulance.
With just three minutes gone, Colstonians were rewarded a penalty that was converted by Burrows.
But within a minute Tewkesbury pulled the score back with a penalty of their own, converted by Baker.
Colstonians increased their lead through a Burrows penalty and a Williams try converted by Burrows, to make it 13-3 to Colstonians.
Burrows converted his third penalty to bring the score 16-3 in the 15th minute. Colstonians made a substitution and replaced Laxon (arm injury) with Mills on the 20th minute.
Tewkesbury pulled three points back through a Baker penalty as a comeback now looked on.
All seemed a go badly wrong for Tewkesbury with five minutes to go in the half. Their captain McVicker took a knock to the head so was replaced by Innocent.
Taylor came on as substitute for the injured Davis to make his first- team debut.
Within minutes Colstonians extended their lead to 23-6 with an O’Sullivan converted try.
Tewkesbury looked like a team with nowhere to go when, in the space of eight minutes, they broke through to score two converted tries from Stoner and McIvor.
They fully utilised the increased pitch space following their move, which turned the score to 23- 27.
Colstonians piled on the pressure but with the last minute of the game Taylor scored, which was converted.
