Campden keep up great form

Chipping Campden 3, Bourton 0.

FOLLOWING their first game of the new year the previous week where they grabbed a 6-0 home win against Civil Service, Chipping Campden Ladies Hockey first team maintained their fine start to 2010.

The game started well with the formidable partnership of Sally Beale and Shirley Aubrey back in action.

The latter scored a well-worked goal minutes into the game.

Although Bourton never made things easy and the team’s had to contend with the poor weather conditions, Campden’s defence stood strong.

Through the hard efforts of Potter, the impressive Barker, Worrall and Hope, they put a stop to Bourton having many strikes on goal. Campden’s midfield and forwards worked hard allowing them to dominate the majority of the game.

Beale hit a few hard shots at the opposition’s goal but to no avail.

But Bourton finally conceded against Beale’s continued pressure before half-time, making the score 2-0.

Bourton came back strongly in the second period, making Campden defend their goal with gusto.

This attacking flurry from the visitors produced a couple of great saves from goalkeeper Lyndsey Palmer.

Some good attacking play between Lucy Dee, Aubrey and Beale saw them combine well down the right-wing to find Laura Geddes and Flo Giles.

After some strong play down the wing and a few shots on goal, the final strike soon followed.

Aubrey finished off the scoring with another fine goal, making the final score 3-0 to Campden.
