Charlton Rovers u11s 1, Evesham United Robins u11s 4.
AFTER a late pitch inspection on a frosty surface the game went ahead.
It was Charlton who struck first when their striker was allowed time and space. Evesham’s keeper couldn’t hold on to the shot and the rebound was finished. The visitors struck back when Johnathon Robinson found himself clear and poked the ball home. Keeper Josh Rogers then redeemed himself with a flying save. The defence of Ryan Reeves, Edward Bagley, Joseph O’Hara and James Noble came under intense pressure but held firm to keep it 1-1 at half-time.
After the break, Bagley made a goal-line clearance.
Evesham came back with good passing between Robinson and Ben Ainsworth, as the latter made it 2-1 with a sublime finish.
Evesham grew with confidence with William Warren hitting the post, then Thomas Backx fired home a brace.
Pershore United u11s 2, Alcester Town Colts u11s 2.
UNITED made the first foray as the Alcester keeper made a good save following a driving Alex Stayte run and shot.
The end-to-end action continued as Stayte poked another shot just past the far post.
Alcester missed a golden opportunity as a cross from the right eluded everyone.
Alcester took the lead when an unmarked player was allowed to prod home an inswinging corner.
United fought back and from a long- range free-kick Stayte managed to find an unguarded part of the net to fire home.
The action continued, but for some stout defending and goalkeeping, the score would have steadily mounted.
Once again it was Alcester who nudged ahead courtesy of United’s failure to clear which ultimately left an Alcester attacker with a tap-in.
It was left to the reliable Stayte to prompt another response and, after a mazy run, his deflected shot took a wicked spin resulting in an unfortunate defender slicing into his own net for the equaliser.
Sheppey Swifts u12s 4, Alveston Colts u12s 1.
SHEPPEY booked their place in the semi-finals after a match of high quality and exciting attacking play.
The visitors had the better of the early exchanges without really testing keeper Josh Rogers.
But it was Sheppey who went close to opening the scoring when Ollie Brothwood latched on to Elliot Enoch’s through-ball only to see his effort hit the base of the post.
Sheppey’s quick breaks down both flanks were beginning to cause Alveston a few problems and it was from one of these raids that the deadlock was broken.
Brothwood latched onto Bradley Izod’s pass down the right before squaring to Javon Nurse who tucked the ball into the net past approachingkeeper Ed Beighton. But, as the half wore on, Alveston searched for an equaliser and were rewarded when Fisk found space in the box to fire home.
Five minutes into the second-half, Sheppey restored their lead.
Nurse’s shot was saved by Beighton, but it fell to the feet of Brett McOrmish who steadied himself before firing home.
Still Alveston wouldn’t lie down and forced a succession of corners.
Only last-gasp tackles from Sam Brookes, Max Lowe and the hard-working Enoch prevented possible equalisers.
It was following an Alveston attack that Sheppey got their third.
Brookes broke up the Alveston raid with a tackle on the edge of his box, swept the ball to McOrmish who in turn found Brothwood.
He ran 30 yards before rounding the keeper and slotting home.
Sheppey sealed their victory with a fourth 10 minutes from time when Brookes was first to react when Brothwood’s header from a corner was scrambled off the line and his left-foot shot deflected into the net.
