NATHAN Gage scored a century and claimed a hat-trick with the ball as Harvington moved to within one point of Crusader Worcestershire League Division Five leaders Vine with a 95-run victory over Chain Wire.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Harvington batted with good tempo throughout.
Their innings was anchored by Gage who notched his third league century of the season, ably supported by a run-a-ball effort from Liam Brignall (26) and Dave Waters (22).
This positive approach moved Harvington into a position to declare after 37 overs with the score on 222- 6 with Gage unbeaten on 108.
Chain Wire started their reply determined not to lose early wickets, putting on 40 for the first.
Once Raja made the breakthrough, things became easier for the hosts. Tight spells from seamers James Towey (1-7) and Luke Fisher (2-15), as well as wickets from spinners Jon Coleman and Sam Cross, kept Harvington on track.
Harvington were left needing to claim three wickets in 18 overs to avoid a draw and the stage was set for a Gage hat-trick to complete a good day’s work for his club.
Harvington seconds climbed to second in Division Eight with a seven-wicket victory over West Malven seconds.
West Malven were bowled out for 116 with spinner Ali Mclennan taking 3-16 off eight overs.
Harvington eased to victory with Stuart Powell unbeaten on 39.
