EVESHAM’S Simon Andrews has vowed to put his impressive World Superbikes debut to good use as he bids to get his ViSK British Superbikes campaign back on track at Knockhill.

The MSS Colchester Kawasaki rider took one race to find his feet in his maiden World Superbike outing at Donington Park, finishing a satisfactory 20th, having qualified in 26th place.

Andrews did not arrive in the East Midlands on top form, having achieved finishes of 10th and 11th last time out on the BSB circuit in Snetterton.

And while it took the first race for the 25-year-old to blow off the cobwebs, Andrews blitzed his way to 10th in race two and immediately pledged to banish the Snetterton demons in Scotland next weekend.

“I went there wanting to learn as much as I possibly could and I definitely did that,” said Andrews.

“You get so much more track time in the World Superbikes and that helped us iron out a few things.

“We tried a few things out and did a few things differently and all of that will have a great impact on my domestic campaign.

“There were a variety of factors why Snetterton did not go as we would have liked.

“To come 10th and 11th was not bad considering all of the technical problems we experienced.

“But it was important to go to Donington and set the record straight and I’d like to think that has now been done.”

Andrews’ World Superbikes debut represents a remarkable 12 months for someone who was plying his trade for Jentin Racing this time last year.

An impressive eighth place overall finish last season earned Andrews a dream move to the Essex-based factory team and a shot at the big time.

Having sampled his first taste of the world stage at Donington Park, Andrews is adamant it will not be his last.

He said: “With it being my first appearance in the World Superbikes, it was so exciting for me. Obviously this is where I want to be. There are some real legends of the biking world here. They are guys I have always watched from afar throughout my career. To compete with them was a dream come true.”
