Trials are a triumph for riders

THERE was plenty of success for members of the Cropthorne and Evesham Vale Riding Club when they attended the National Riding Club's Area 18 Hunter Trials qualifier at Shipton-under-Wychwood.

The team finished runners-up in the 2ft 9 class, while junior pair Daisy Wheeler and Stephanie Kedward rook top spot to book their place in the championships.

Issy Mangan took first place to qualify from the 3ft junior class, while senior pair Gaynor Brundle and Laura Fiddes qualified from their class as did runners-up Chrissy Furness and Louise Davey.

Results - 2ft 9 Class (team): 2 D Wheeler, Amy Furness, Alex Worral, Harriet Dicken. Individual: 3 D Wheeler; 7 Chris Davey; 9 A Furness; 10 H Dicken. Junior Pairs: 1 D Wheeler & S Kedward; 3 C Davey & Georgie Brundle; 5 Georgie & Verity Roberts; 6 A Furness & Abi Stock; 7 S Kedward & A Worral. 3ft Class: 1 I Mangan. Senior Pairs: 1 G Brundle & L Fiddes; 2 C Furness & l Davey.

Seven days later at a team show-jumping event at Hartpury, the club recorded another three wins.

Abi Stock topped the individual standings in Class 1, while also helping Georgie Brundle, Maddie Pearce and Daisy Wheeler to victory in the team competition.

Wheeler was again celebrating after helping Stephanie Kedward and Robyn and Francesca Johnson to success in the Class 2 category.

Other placings - Class 1 (Team): 7 Beth Castle, Toby Wheeler, Georgie & Verity Roberts. Class 2 (Team): 3 Natalie Clarke; Chris Davey; Charlotte Plumb, Sophie Trinder. Individual: 6 N Clarke. Class 3 (Team): 3 Amy Furness, Stephanie Kedward, N Clarke, S Trinder. 5 A Furness, C Davey, F Johnson, C Plumb; Individual: 4 A Furness; 5 F Johnson.
