THREE of Evesham United’s squad face fitness tests ahead of tonight’s trip to Slimbridge in Southern League Division One South (7.45).

Boss Paul Collicutt will run the rule over frontrunners Jacob Davidge and Steve Davies and left-back Nick Humphreys as fourth-placed Robins go in search of the win that would send them top of the table.

One player United must do without at Thornhill Park is defender Nathan Summers who begins a three-match ban following his red card in the 2-1 home victory over Blackfield & Langley.

Will Wellon is available once more with striker Sean Brain likely to be in the squad after notching twice for Studley in Midland Football Division One on Saturday.

“We’re hoping the lads carrying knocks will be alright. You cannot be too careful and we will assess them properly before sending them out there,” said Collicutt.

The match comes after a blank weekend for Evesham, one the manager was quick to welcome.

“We didn’t do anything at the weekend,” he revealed.

“The lads were put through one of the longest pre-seasons we have done, they have played an awful lot of football in a short period of time so we wanted to let them do their own thing.

“One or two have niggly injuries so giving everyone that bit of breathing space could be beneficial in the long run.”
