EVESHAM United’s Tyrone Tucker-Dixon is expected to make a full recovery from the concerning head injuries sustained on Saturday.

The winger, recruited over the summer, got caught underneath the jaw in an accidental clash late in the 2-1 home victory over Blackfield & Langley.

He played on but then “collapsed” with head sports therapist Ally Major quickly on hand along with her counterpart from the visitors.

Manager Paul Collicutt reports Tucker-Dixon has suffered no lasting effects but admitted the scare had seen football play second fiddle for the rest of the day.

“Tyrone was chasing back and slid into a tackle,” said Collicutt.

“As he did that, he got caught with a kick underneath his jaw. It was not intentional, just one of those accidental clashes you unfortunately get in football and it knocked him for six.

“Tyrone got up and carried on but then collapsed not far from us.

“Ally went straight on and did a very professional job. She said we shouldn’t move him at that point and we were with him for five or 10 minutes before carrying him off.

“It was like he was not there. His eyes told you he did not know where he was and when Ally asked what the score was he said 7-0.

“He cannot remember saying that but the most concerning thing was he could not see properly.

“It certainly put everything into perspective. There you are worried about winning a game of football and within seconds you have one of your lads saying he cannot see.

“I don’t mind admitting having a lump in my throat seeing him like that.

“Their physio came over to help as well and everyone’s main concern was to see that the lad was alright, which was brilliant and we are very grateful to Blackfield & Langley.

“He had headaches and sickness on the night but has been recovering since and thankfully, it looks like there will be no lasting problems which is a huge relief.”

Tucker-Dixon’s colleagues provided him with the perfect tonic by holding out with nine men to win. Nathan Summers had already been sent off for Evesham with all three substitutes used when Tucker-Dixon hit the ground.
