PERSHORE Town boss Paul Harris praised his players after their first competitive win under his management.

They triumphed 2-1 at Hereford side Pegasus Juniors in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Jordan Hayward pounced on a loose ball to put the visitors ahead on 36 minutes.

But Pegasus, who had won two of their opening three matches, responded after the break through a powerful Kyle Panniers header.

However, the Worcestershire outfit had the last say with James Taylor netting a 66th-minute winner.

Harris said: “Proud would be an understatement. The lads battled from the first to the 96th minute to earn our first three points.

“It was a hard away fixture but it’s nice to get the win we deserve.

“Our season is up and running now and we will look to build on the result.”

Pershore moved up to 10th in the table ahead of their next game at Hereford Lads Club on bank holiday Monday (3pm).
