EVESHAM kept the pressure on the top two in Worcestershire League Division One with a 79-run victory over Hagley at Blind Lane.

Opener Muhammad Saqib (85) led the way as Evesham who won the toss and chose to bat went on the front foot.

They lost just one wicket on the way to reaching three figures and were on 150 when Saqib became the fourth man out.

James Russell (4-72) took four wickets for Hagley but an unbeaten 64 from Ali Shan steered Evesham to 294-8 from their 50 overs.

The visitors responded well as they made 60 before Daniel Giles (28) was caught by James Crenan off Nasir Mehmood.

Although Hagley chipped away at Evesham's total none of their batsman could stay the course with Jon McDonnell top scoring with 42.

Mohammed Fahim Maan was the pick of the bowlers as he recorded figures of 4-35 as Hagley were dismissed for 215.

Evesham host Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday (1pm).
