LITTLETON Dolphins became the first Evesham and District Table Tennis Association Division Two team to secure the league and cup double.

They completed the brace with an emphatic 96-point win against JLM Sunrisers in the John Mytton Handicap Cup final.

The league and cup double has been completed eight times before but all by Division One sides.

Dolphins won Division Two with 20 wins and just one draw.

The team of Vladimir Averin, Murat Shafigullin and Jade Ngan Lok Yee defeated Littleton Clubs in the cup first round by 123 points to inflict the only defeat of the season on the Division One champions.

In the quarter- finals, Karen Chu Kiu Yan joined Averin and Yee and amassed 135 points from 338 in a 69-point win over higher-ranked Kington Bulldogs.

Dolphins brought in three different players from their squad for the semi-final in Daniel Reynolds, Ben Robinson and Simon Robinson.

Against much more experienced players from JLM Eagles of Division Two, youngsters Reynolds and Ben Robinson helped them to an eight-point victory.

In the final with Sunrisers from Division One, captain John Mckay was joined by Jamie Chinn-Brown and Simon Robinson.

Their opponents included Stef Mytton and Mandy Sylvester, son and daughter of the late John Mytton, and the experienced Graham Poole.

Chinn-Brown was in top form as Dolphins achieved a 96-point victory to complete the double.
