EVESHAM climbed to fourth place in Worcestershire League Division One after defeating Worcester Nomads by 82 runs at Blind Lane.

Mohammed Fahim Maan took 4-22 and Sadam Khan 3-9 as a fine bowling display saw the hosts skittle Nomads for 115 after setting their opponents a target of 198 to win.

Evesham were on a high after stunning leaders Stourport-on-Severn last week and they ensured they backed it up against Nomads.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Evesham suffered a few early blows as Ali Asghar (12) and Muhammad Saqib (8) were bowled.

Guy Davies then took two quick wickets, removing Shan (14) and Fahim Maan (0) to leave Evesham on 66-4.

Johnson Lourdhusamy (38) and Nasir Mehmood (20) helped to steady the ship, taking the score into three figures.

There were also useful contributions from the lower order with Adnan Sagheer scoring 23 before Evesham were bowled out for 197.

This did not look like being enough, though, as David White (42) and Ollie Ranscombe (35) dug in after openers Davies (14) and Lewis Austin (2) fell early.

But Nomads collapsed from 97-2 to 115 all out as Fahim Maan and Khan starred with the ball.

Evesham host Burghill, Tillington & Weobley on Saturday (1pm).

A solid second-wicket stand between Charlie McVicker and Tim Fenney laid the platform for a four-wicket win for Bredon at Himbleton in Division Two.

Alastair Pretty scored 110 for the home side before being caught by Martyn Draper off Martin Hill.

But Pretty's century was in vain as Himbleton were dismissed for 208 with Hill taking 4-43.

Draper (4) fell cheaply but McVicker (68) and Fenney (45) put Bredon in a good position.

Hill (31 not out) and Jamie Munro (25) then saw their side home as they sealed the win in the 39th over.

Fourth-placed Bredon take on Kempsey at Hill Close on Saturday (1pm).

Pershore overtook Sutton Coldfield into fifth position in Birmingham League Division Two after they claimed a winning draw against the side from Rectory Park.

Solid batting from Jon Hancock (50), Chris Ridings (45) and Charlie Norton (42) took Pershore to 257-7.

But an undefeated 55 from Jack Smith and 45 from skipper Lee Thomason helped Sutton to 194-6 by the close.

Darren Critcher (3-52) was the pick of the bowlers for Pershore who host C&R Hawks on Saturday (midday).
