BOWLS: Overbury maintained their South Worcestershire Triples League winning streak with a success over Aston Somerville B.

The triple of Allen Mottershead, Mark Smith and Neil Williams trounced their opposition 27-7.

Mike Ames, Barry Robinson and Bruce Hayward, drawn at 15-all going in to the last end, managed to score the deciding shot needed to take the win 16-15.

Captain Dan Mason said: “It has been a great start to this year's league for Overbury, topping the table after three successive wins.

“Congratulations to Bruce’s rink for hanging in there to win on their last end. After coming second over the past couple of years, we must maintain this momentum to win the league this year.”

New members, both young and senior, are always welcome to join.

“The club has both equipment and qualified coaches to get the inexperienced up and running quickly,” added Mason.

POOL: Four finals and Evesham & District Pool League’s end-of-season presentations will take place on Friday from 7pm.

The evening at Evesham Health Services Staff & Social Club kicks off with the Vale Loans Cup final and League Cup final.

The Singles Knockout final between team-mates and old adversaries Kevin Lewis and Darren Selvey follows with the duo going head-to-head again in the Ron Barlow Memorial Veterans’ final.

ROWING: Evesham Rowing Club enjoyed 13 victories at its own regatta over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Gold medals went to juniors Archie McEwan and Ollie Parr in the doubles, Duncan Repton in his single, quad Martha Robbins, Charlie Ackerman, Georgie Banton and Poppy Cullen coxed by Mimi Farrell and double Maddy Cross and Kate Unwin.

Senior double Libby Akerman and Kate Racki won easily followed by team-mates Debbie Staite and Hazel Cabena, who took charge of their closely fought-event from the start to win by one length.

A further seven wins were recorded on Sunday with Tom Woodward winning the 500m downstream sprint.

Junior Sam McClenahan in his single, double Martha Robbins and Charlie Ackerman, quad Isla Grelak, Kate Dufty, Georgie Banton and Suki Glockling coxed by Martha Bradley and double Rebecca Parkin and Ella Shalom all had fine rows to deserve their victories.

Dave Pollard and Tony Rowland won by four lengths in the Senior Masters while the mixed quad of Francis Pinkerton, Richard Evans, Debbie Staite and Hazel Cabena completed the haul.

TENNIS: The Wildmoor Tennis League moves into week six with Stratford A opening up an impressive five-point gap at the top, maintaining their 100 per cent record by beating Chipping Campden A 4-0. Alcester A moved up to second place defeating Redditch A 4-0.

In joint third are Alcester B and Chipping Campden A with Ardencote fifth.

Henley A remain in sixth place leaving Pershore A then Redditch A as the bottom two Stratford pair Callum Bailey & Cameron Malik beat Campden’s Martin Ledbury & Ali Johnson 6-1, 6-3 in the first rubber and then beat Tom Partridge & Geoff Vaughan 6-2, 6-1.

Stratford’s second pair Peter Uys-barnard & Simon West had a tougher time before beating Partridge and Vaughan 7-6, 6-4 and then Ledbury & Johnson 7-6, 6-2.

Alcester A moved up to second when their pairing of Charlie Watson & Alex Woodbridge beat Redditch A’s James McDonald & Eric Portman 6-2, 6-0 and then beat Lubl Somoliar & Terry Iduitua 6-3, 6-1. Alcester’s other pair, Stuart Beach & Tim Keneally, beat McDonald & Portman 6-1, 6-1 and Somoliar & Iduitua 6-4, 6-3.

A 2-2 draw was just enough to keep Alcester B in third place which they now share with Campden. Alcester’s Marcus Powell & Alex Woodbridge beat Ardencore A’s Hardy Christian and Pete Thomas 6-2, 6-3 and then beat Ben Summers & John Brain 6-3, 6-3.

In the other rubbers Alcester’s Matt Fielding & Barney Williams lost to Christian & Thomas 2-6, 6-1, 0-1 and lost to Summers & Brain 4-6, 6-1, 0-1. In the final match Henley A beat Pershore A 3-1.

Henley’s Max Retallack & Neil Supperstone lost to Pershore’s John Guppy & Steve Bauer 6-7, 6-7 and then defeated Dave Morris & Martin Sime 6-1, 6-0.

Henley’s pairing of Tom Griffiths & Oli Didlick sealed the win beating Guppy & Bauer 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 and Morris and Sime 6-2, 6-2.

In Division One Littleton A have opened up a three point gap at the top after their second successive 4-0 win, this time against Moreton A.

Evesham A remain second after sharing the points 2-2 with Studley A. In spite of their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Alcester C Stratford B remain in third place.

In the final match Ardencote beat Inkberrow A 4-0 to join three other teams all on 9 points leaving Inkberrow A bottom.

Division Two saw a new leader in Claverdon A who beat FISSC 4-0 helped by FISSC only fielding one pair. Snitterfield A’s 3-1 win against Inkberrow B moved them into joint second place with Shipston A who beat Claverdon B 4-0.

In the final match Chipping Campden B beat Henley B 3-1.

Division Three is really close at the top with three teams all on 15 points. Studley B are the new leaders based on games won/lost thanks to their 3-1 win over Redditch B. Second are Pershore B who drew 2-2 with Bidford A.

Warwick are third after their 4-0 victory over Inkberrow C. In the other match Snitterfield B beat Redditch C 4-0 leaving Redditch firmly rooted to the foot of the table with nil points.

On to Division Four where joint leaders Shipston B and Evesham B both enjoyed 3-1 wins. Shipston at home to Chipping Campden C and Evesham away to Bidford B.

Previous leaders Wildmoor Spa A dropped to third place losing 4-0 at Tysoe which lifted Tysoe out of the bottom two.

In the final match Claverdon C beat Aston Cantlow 3-1 Finally, in Division Five, Stratford C stretched their lead at the top to 3 points by beating Wildmoor Spa B 3-1.

Moreton B moved up to second place with a good 4-0 win against Warwickshire CC who consequently drop to third place.

In the other match Moreton C lost 3-1 to Henley C which at least gives Moreton the consolation of winning their first rubber of the season.
