PERSHORE Town manager Quentin Townsend is considering his position going into talks with chairman Daniel Parvin tomorrow (Thursday).

Townsend took charge in November 2015 and steadied the ship having been the third man in the hot seat that season.

Last season proved tough with third-bottom Pershore surviving relegation from Midland Football League Division One by four points.

A spike in mid-season form ensured there would be no such worries this time around but four straight defeats and 20 goals conceded in the final five games made for a disappointing finish.

Dependent on results elsewhere, Town will finish 18th or 19th with Townsend set to seek reassurances the club wants to push on before deciding whether or not to continue.

“I am going to sit down with the chairman to talk about next season and see what the plan is,” said Townsend.

“From a personal point of view there are a few things to consider as well. We will see what happens over the next few days, I have enjoyed my time with Pershore but it has been frustrating at times.

“I don’t know what the chairman is thinking regarding expenses for next season or where the club will be with the league restructure. There are rumours we are going to be shifted across to the West Midlands (Regional) League.

“I have had a few phone calls from people enquiring about my availability. I need to weigh up what is best for me and my family.”

Pershore brought down the curtain on 2017-18 with a 4-3 defeat at Studley, a match they had led 2-0 and 3-1.

Studley made all of the running but Town caught cold their hosts at the end of the first half with top scorer Charlie Anagho-Ntamark latching on to two simple balls down the middle before coolly tucking away both.

Chris Cowley’s swirling free-kick from the right evaded everyone to hand the Bees a lifeline three minutes after the interval only for Alfie Bloomer to restore the two-goal cushion by nipping past Luke English and slamming past Ryan Young.

Eddie Wynne-Wilson’s curling 20-yard free-kick made things interesting again just past the hour and captain Lewis Clarke equalised with a downward header back across goal from Cowley’s corner with 21 minutes to go.

Dan Dineen then plundered what proved to be the winner, cushioning in from another Cowley corner in the 74th minute.

There was still time for Town keeper Toby Wilcox to save Andy Nichol’s penalty awarded for a push from a set-piece, leaving Townsend with little choice but to offer a frank assessment of the action.

“I thought we were shocking for the first 41 minutes of the first half,” he said.

“We gave away the ball so much which was unlike us. The two goals papered over the cracks and it was not the first time we have been two up and gone on to lose.

“That has to be put down to a mental issue. If I do hang around, we have to work on managing games better. Once you go 3-1 up away from home with about half an hour play, you have to tighten up.

“We gave away a cheap free-kick which they smacked in the top corner and then we didn’t defend two set pieces, no one even attack either ball. It was schoolboy stuff.”
