BROADWAY Golf Club's North Gloucestershire Foursomes League Division Three men’s champions were boosted in the new season.

They welcomed Andy Sullivan, world top 100 Ryder Cup player in 2016, to join them in their first practice match against Stratford.

Sullivan played three holes with each of the Broadway pairs, giving them an insight into what it takes to be a top professional.

He strolled in with a 65 including one eagle, six birdies, 10 pars and a bogey.

But Broadway made full use of their home advantage by bringing in a conclusive 4-1 win over Stratford.

The ladies competed in their spring Texas scramble.

The best tee shot was chosen and then played by  the remaining three team members over 18 holes.

Julia Fortescue, Diana Chambers and Vienneta Hancock were a team member short due to illness but won with 70.5.

Second with 72.4 were Annabelle Carter, Fran Andrews, Kate Bellamy and Pauline Russell ahead of ladies’ captain Maggie McDivitt, Henrietta Cooke, Valerie Steven and Angela Sollis with 72.7.

All winners were presented with Easter eggs by McDivitt.

The ladies then held their annual spring dinner which was attended by more than 70 members.

The winter league presentation also took place with Rita Harrison and Angela Sollis cementing their victory in the final round with 118 points.

Winners of the runners-up goblets were Sonia Ward and Chris Parkinson who missed out marginally on countback.
