PERSHORE High School speed skater Adam Hill was crowned national champion in the Junior D category for 12 and 13 year olds.

Hill triumphed in the British Short Track Speed Skating Championships at the National Ice Centre, Nottingham, dominating the boys’ competition by comprehensively winning all three distance finals.

It was his fifth podium finish in a row at the annual championships and tops off his most successful season.

Hill, 13, has won every event he has entered on British ice this season and had a very successful Star Class competition in Germany in January.

He raced the best skaters in Europe, finishing in the top 10 in 500 metres, 777m and 1000m distances while setting personal best times in each.

His father Adam senior trains with him at Mohawks Ice Racing Club at Planet Ice, Solihull, and is one of the club’s assistant coaches.

He said: “Ad has exceeded all expectations this season and never ceases to impress us, not only with his performances in competition but also with his focus and attitude to training.

“He continues to improve week on week. Roll on next season!”
