PERSHORE Town’s five-match unbeaten league run came to a shuddering halt with a 5-0 bashing by on-song Racing Club Warwick on Boxing Day.

While Town’s fortunes improved significantly during November and December, they had no answer to a second-half flurry which saw Warwick register a ninth straight Midland League Division One success.

Martin Slevin’s strike arrived after half-an-hour and separated the sides at half-time with Alex Price doubling Pershore’s deficit 11 minutes into the second half.

Henry Leaver read the last rites in the 68th minute with Richard Powell’s late double heaping on the festive misery for Worcester-based boss Quentin Townsend who again played himself at the back.

On Saturday, Pershore won 2-1 at Cadbury Athletic thanks to goals from Alfie Bloomer and Olly Manoochehri.

Odane Barnes halved Town’s two-goal lead but Cadbury could not muster enough momentum to seriously threaten an equaliser.

Fifteenth-placed Pershore's next game is at Nuneaton Griff on Saturday, January 6.
