SEVENTY-two The Vale seniors entered a white tee competition for the Eric Salter Trophy.
It is the only annual match where handicaps are irrelevant and the best gross score collects the cup.
The overall winner with a gross 86 was Tony Hampson, having gone out in 47 and back in 39 with three birdies and four pars.
The Vale seniors’ pairs open attracted 140 players with 98 from various clubs across the adjoining counties.
The tournament in glorious weather saw home players and visitors sharing the first four places.
First place went to The Vale’s Martin Westwood and Mike Heard.
Captain Derek Lambert announced a raffle on the day raised £572 for his nominated charity Motor Neurone Disease.
