EVESHAM hope to establish disability tennis at their courts at the town’s rowing club.

They are looking to find out how much interest there might be locally.

Halesowen’s Jordanne Whiley, four-time and current Wimbledon women’s wheelchair doubles champion, used to train on the courts.

Tennis club chairman Brian Gregory said: “As part of our inclusive approach to promoting participation in tennis in Evesham and the surrounding area we are seeking to build and establish disabled tennis provision at the club.

“We are appealing to anyone who is interested in participating in disabled tennis, including wheelchair tennis, to contact us and express their interest.

“We would like to hear from individuals and from local organisations.

“Based on interest and need the club plan to develop facilities and provide equipment as appropriate.

“A wheelchair demonstration event is being planned at the club.”

Abbey Road-based Evesham already have a ramp that allows access onto the courts for wheelchairs.
