BRIAN Osborne held his captain’s day at Evesham’s Craycombe Links course in Fladbury Cross.

Celebrating his second year as club captain Osborne hosted over 100 golfers in a team competition.

The day was completed by an evening of music and food raising £1,012 for Evesham charity The Acquired Brain Injury Trust.

Despite a worrying weather forecast the men and women eventually enjoyed a sunny if breezy day playing in teams of four.

With the best two scores to count and all four on par threes the three-quarters handicap restriction proved challenging.

The men’s competition was won by the team of A Rock, R Wylie, M Haughtey and W James with 99 stableford points to pip J Machin, T Fawcett, G Hughes and B Marshall on countback.

The women’s competition was won by the quartet of J Hunt, A Bird, D Machin and J Bevan with 81.

Evesham seniors beat visitors Abbey Park at Craycombe Links 3½-2½ in a friendly.

Three of the games ended up as halves for the pairings of Tony Clemow and Tim Swift, Mike Whiteford and Malcolm Carnall and Steve Deakin and Doug Sharp.

Ian Wood and Richard Saville won one-up and Bill Dobie and Roger Holmes 4&3 while Ian Facer and Alistair Millward lost 2&1.
