DUMBLETON carried off the title in Pershore Cricket Club’s Women’s Soft Ball Cricket festival.

Moreton Mayhem finished runners-up as the Plumettes from Pershore could not capitalise on their home advantage.

Six teams from across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire displayed their budding cricket skills in a friendly, but hard-fought competition.

The ECB initiative has been designed to encourage women to take part in cricket.

Members of both Pershore’s men’s and women’s senior cricket teams were on hand to coach each team and manage their games.

Every team had their chance to shine in the event as players got into the swing of things with bat and ball.

Pershore Ladies train at the main ground in Defford Road on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm.

They would welcome new female players of all ages and abilities interested in playing cricket.

Opportunities to play cricket are provided at all levels, including soft-ball cricket.

Pershore’s development team currently top the T20 evening league and the first team compete in the Women’s Midland League Division One.

The ladies’ section consists of players from 13 to 50 years old.
