OVERBURY Bowling Club’s Sue Robinson, Sally Lewis, Gillian Pearce and Daphne Hayward booked their place in the semi-finals of the Ladies WBA County Rinks.

Overbury overcame Stourport in the quarter-finals to win through to the last-four on a cool and wet evening.

They will now face Broadway for a place in the final.

The match against Stourport was closely fought with the score standing at 13-12 after 16 of the 21 ends.

After sharing the following ends, Overbury led 17-13 into the final end, requiring Stourport to score four for a draw or five for a win.

With a tight head to close the match, Stourport could only score two shots so Overbury ladies ran out victorious with a 17-15 result.

Overbury men’s secured a place in the WBA County Triples quarter-finals after a hard-fought 12-10 victory at Vines Park, Droitwich. Mike Mace, Dan Mason and Neil Williams prevailed in a very tense and close match.

In another accurate, low scoring game, the match was tied 8-8 after 14 of the 18 ends.

A tactical change from Overbury saw them bring the mat up the green through which they gained a three-shot advantage going into the final end.

Vines Park put two woods close early in the final end but Mason went on the offensive and changed the head in Overbury’s favour. The final end concluded with the trio dropping a single shot to win 12-10
