HEREFORD boss Pete Beadle expressed an interest in four Evesham United players, according to Robins’ chief Paul Collicutt.

Prolific marksman Lance Smith and winger Garyn Preen have both agreed terms with Southern League Premier Division Hereford.

But Evesham captain Linden Dovey has decided to remain with Collicutt’s Division One South and West charges.

Hereford were also keen to speak to Evesham centre-half Liam Harding.

However, the defensive linchpin has picked up a serious knee injury and is likely to be out of action for up to a year.

"Liam was injured before the end of the season," explained Collicutt.

"He hurt his cruciate ligament and will be out for 12 months.

"Hereford came in for him at the end of the season but they didn't realise he was injured.

"Hereford are a very ambitious club “If I'm honest, I am jealous of Hereford with the crowds they get at Edgar Street.

"But we must be doing something right (at Evesham United) for Hereford to come in for four of my players.

"We like to play entertaining football and sometimes it comes off and at other time it doesn't."

Preen, who Collicutt has described as a winger who can play on the right or left hand side, joined Evesham last season after being released by Hungerford Town.

"He's a quiet lad but a good footballer who has pace and will entertain the fans," said Collicutt.

"He was on loan from Hungerford and went back there.

"However, he had a falling out with them and, for the rest of the season, was an Evesham United player.

"He can play on the right or the left, but is a winger.

"He really is a top lad and won't cause any trouble in the changing room."

Collicutt also believes striker Smith will do well for Beadle’s boys.

"Lance will be playing at a standard that he has never played at before, but he is a player that, given the chance will excel," said Collicutt. “Hereford have two very good players."
