PERSHORE Tennis Centre ace Maddie Walsh has won her maiden tournament in Gloucester.

The eight-year-old from Pershore played very well as she triumphed in the Red competition.

Maddie won every game and even came from 5-0 down in one match.

Maddie’s parents and the club were very proud of her achievements.

Meanwhile, Evesham men slipped to a 3-1 defeat at second-placed Ardencote Manor in the top tier of the Wildmoor Spa League.

Alcester B and Moreton-in-Marsh met at Alcester with the hosts emerging as winners 3-1 to lift them to mid-table.

Matt Fielding and Barney Williams (Alcester B) lost to Gary Jackson and James Elliott (Moreton) 3-6, 1-6, but beat Greg Stotesbury and Brian Lomas (Moreton) 7-6, 6-1.

Division One table-toppers Chipping Campden retained their lead but it was cut to one point after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Studley.

The third and fourth placed teams, Littleton and Pershore, kept up the pressure as both enjoyed 4-0 wins. Littleton’s win was over Ardencote Manor B and Pershore’s was against Snitterfield.

In Division Two, Shipston-on-Stour A secured a 4-0 win at Alcester C. Pershore B moved away from the Division Three relegation zone with a 4-0 victory at Claverdon C.

In Division Three, Chipping Campden B’s match against Aston Cantlow was postponed due to heavy rain.

Third place in Division Four remains in the hands of Wildmoor Spa A even though they were held to a 2-2 draw by lowly Moreton-in-Marsh B.

Evesham B moved up to joint fourth thanks to a hard-fought win over bottom team Moreton-in-Marsh C. Although the result was 4-0 to Evesham B, this belied the closeness of the match.

In Division Five, the top two teams met at Shipston-on-Stour and the 3-1 victory to the visitors mean Chipping Campden C have joined Shipston B at the head of the table on 17 points.
