A MEMBER of Worcestershire-based running club the Pershore Plum Plodders has received an illustrious Abbott ‘Six Star’ medal, achieved by finishing all six of the world’s major marathons in under a year, writes Sam Bennett.

Suzanne Price, 51, is a full-time working mother as well as a local scout leader.

Despite these time constraints she still managed to achieve the feat, on top of running marathons in Florida and on the south coast of England, during the same time frame.

The Abbott series consists of the marathons of London, Berlin, New York, Chicago, Tokyo and Boston.

The series of all six has been completed by fewer than 2,000 people worldwide.

Suzanne Price has finished six of the world’s major marathons in less than a year.

Of that number, just 14 have finished all six marathons in under one year.

Price admits she was very fortunate to have won entry through the ballots to each of the marathons, some of which have as low as a five per cent chance of being granted entry.

Describing her favourite aspects of the races, she said: “It’s a tricky question to answer because they are all so unique and special in different ways.

"If I had to choose a favourite race it would be Boston, for the amazing support, scenery and other inspirational runners.”

The Pershore Plum Plodders are an England Athletics affiliated running club in Worcestershire who welcome all comers, of any age or ability.
