EVESHAM United secured an excellent 2-0 win over second-placed Taunton Town at the Jubilee Stadium in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West.

The visitors started brightly and dominated possession in the Evesham half for the first 15 minutes.

The hosts came back into the game with Archie Haskayne, Mark Magee and Jordan Bryan all having opportunities.

Just past the half-hour mark Bryan collected the ball in the middle of the park and ran half the length of the pitch to drive across keeper Lloyd Irish into the far corner.

The second half was an even affair early on and then the key moment came 10 minutes in when Taunton had a golden chance to draw level.

Ross Staley got clear on the left and squared to Craig Veal but with the target gaping his effort was kept out brilliantly by keeper Kevin Sawyer.

Evesham looked the more threatening for the rest of the half and sealed victory in the sixth minute of injury-time when Adam Mann turned well in the box to fire home.

The Robins moved up to fourth and are unbeaten in five games.
