EVESHAM United will rue missed chances that meant settling for a Southern League Division One South and West point from a 1-1 draw with North Leigh at the Jubilee Stadium.

After a quiet start with only a few chances the away side went behind in the 17th minute when sloppy play led to Lance Williams putting ninth-placed North Leigh ahead.

High-flying Evesham began to create and a Nick Stanley header was cleared off the line followed up by an Archie Haskayne shot that clipped the crossbar.

Adam Mann failed to force the ball over the line and Liam Harding headed over.

The home side finally equalised a minute before the break after good hold-up play by Lance Smith set up Garyn Preen whose precise shot went into the bottom right corner.

The second half saw lots of pressure exerted with headers from Ashley Williams and Smith going close and a big penalty shout late on not given.

Second-placed Evesham spurned a great chance with their last attack which meant a point when a narrow victory based on chances created would have been fairer.
