EVESHAM United midfielder Joe Turley has been ruled out for up to six weeks after damaging his knee ligaments.

The 23-year-old former Cheltenham Town trainee was carried off on a stretcher in the second half of United’s 2-1 victory at Didcot Town on Tuesday.

Turley’s injury will be a blow for the Robins, who face a trip to 10th-placed North Leigh in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West tomorrow (3pm).

But, with top scorer Lance Smith, Liam Harding, Lewis Binns and Nick Stanley all back available, manager Paul Collicutt admitted he had “a few” selection dilemmas.

“It was great to get the win on Tuesday but it came with a bit of baggage as Joe ended up in hospital and is now on crutches,” Collicutt said.

“He has done his ligaments in so he could be out for anything between four and six weeks.

“But we have got a few players coming back, so we have got a few decisions to make.”

Third-placed Evesham got their league campaign back on track with a win at Didcot after defeats to Taunton Town and Tiverton Town.

But Collicutt insists they face a “very difficult” test at Eynsham Park where they will lock horns with ex-Robins skipper Matt Sysum, who left United last month.

“North Leigh are a team who have done exceptionally well in the cup competitions,” he added.

“They are still in the FA Trophy and have beaten a lot of good sides.

“They are a team who will be up in the top four or five come the end of the season, so we have got our work cut out.”
