PERSHORE Town scored four goals for the second consecutive weekend, winning 4-2 at Stafford Town in Midland League Division One.

They spoilt Stafford’s first match on their new 4G pitch by racing into a four-goal lead within 25 minutes with some good passing football.

After just three minutes, Jamie Clarke was first to an intended pass to Stafford’s keeper and pulled the ball back for Will Gayton to drill home from 12 yards.

Soon after, Lou Bridges crossed from the left and Clarke got in front of his defender to finish with a deft flick from close range.

After 22 minutes, Ciaran Gilbert’s long ball found Bridges, whose cross from the right was headed home from close range by Sean Cooke.

Three minutes later, a fine passing move resulted with Bridges playing Clarke into the box and he finished with a left-footed swerving effort into the far corner.

Stafford also played their part in an excellent first half and hit back in the 26th minute with a shot from just outside the box.

Pershore were content to protect their lead in the second half and contained their opponents until late when Shaun Griffith’s trip led to a penalty that was struck against the bar.

Stafford scored in the 85th minute from a close-range header.
