THE Bredon Bash saw 82 runners tackle a 5.5-mile course to the summit of the Worcestershire hill and back.

The fields and footpaths were uneven and muddy after rain.

Worcester Triathlon Club’s Iain Jennings led the way for the men with a run of 40 minutes 10 seconds.

Second was Johann Breyten-Bach in 40:27 and Worcester Athletic Club’s Richard Smith finished third in 40:40.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Lindsey Lewis-Painter from Evesham Vale Running Club in 50:44, from Emma Gill in 51:42 and Evesham’s Alix Cornish in 56:15.

For the Vale club, Phil Parsons was fourth in 41:26, Andrew Kendry fifth in 41:39, Bob Pope 21st in 47:38, Mark Zikking 22nd in 48:31, Shawn Townsend 34th in 51:51, Justin Davis 44th in 55:33 and David Hughes 52nd in 59:24.

Emma McCance was 57th and eighth woman in 1:02:47, Robert Hale 68th in 1:05:41, Melanie Hoplans 77th and 20th woman in 1:14:48, Leanne Dean 81st and 22nd woman in 1:38:14 and Emma Betts 82nd and 23rd woman in 1:38:14.
