PERSHORE Town lost their last Midland League Division One match of the campaign 1-0 at Heather St Johns.

The hosts needed a point to be guaranteed safety, while Town were comfortable in mid-table.

Town started well with Gareth Evans going close with a header and Kallum Powell hitting the post.

In the 24th minute, with Town having dominated, Heather scored with a counter-attack when speedy striker Ahkeem Rose got in behind to prod the ball past advancing goalkeeper Andy Yarnold.

The goal changed the game with Heather enjoying the upper hand and hitting the bar with a long-range shot.

The second half was even with Evans unlucky not to score from close range and Jake Donnelly striking the woodwork late on for Town from 15 yards.

The result left Pershore in 14th place with Worcester-born Quentin Townsend having already committed to managing again next season.

Meanwhile, Worcester side Perrywood lost 3-1 at Coventrians in Division Three, while Premier Division champions Hereford FC won 3-1 at Shepshed Dynamo with John Mills (2) and Sirdic Grant on target for the Bulls.

Stourport Swifts lost their match 3-0 at Boldmere St Michaels, but Westfields beat Rocester 4-1 thanks to goals from Phil Glover, James Baldwin, Kane Kahaki and Jamie Cuss.
