EVESHAM United moved five points off the Southern League Division One South and West play-offs with a 3-0 win over Mangotsfield United at the Jubilee Stadium.

After a scrappy start, the visitors went down to 10 men in the 28th minute when Ryan Batten was given a straight red card after bringing down Nathan Modest.

From the resultant free-kick, Adam Mann put Evesham ahead with his 28th goal of the season.

Towards the break, Mangotsfield had the better of the game but failed to take the opportunities they had.

Evesham finally got a foothold in the match and in the 79th minute Carl Brown found the bottom left-hand corner from 15 yards following a good run from Karnell Chambers.

In the 86th minute, Clayton Green did some good work to set up a clinical finish by Mann for his second of the game.

It was not one of the home’s sides best displays but the win was the most crucial thing.

Evesham’s run is now just one defeat in 12 games and they remain sixth with four fixtures left.

Evesham: Thompson, Harding, Green, Brown, Sysum, Wellon, Sloggett (Wood 72), Williams, Mann, Modest (Chambers 62), Binns.

Attendance: 246.
