MANAGER Paul Collicutt says Evesham United must reach the heights of their performance at Taunton Town to be a match for promotion-chasing Swindon Supermarine tonight (7.45pm).

Lance Smith’s second-half strike helped the Robins end Taunton’s 15-match unbeaten run with a 1-0 win in Southern League Division One South and West on Saturday.

Collicutt was delighted with the victory, as his side played more than 50 minutes with 10 men after midfielder Sean Wood was brandished a second yellow card.

However, the Evesham boss insisted the result would “mean nothing” if they do not bring back at least a point from third-placed Swindon, who have not lost a league game since late October.

“The lads came up trumps at Taunton as they worked their socks off and got a deserved win,” he said.

“But the thing now is the lads know the standards we require and when we reach those levels we are a match for anybody in the league.

“Unfortunately this season, there have been too many games where we have been a bit off-colour and we have dropped points because of it.

“Swindon are right up there and are in a good place at the minute, so we have got our work cut out.

“But if we can reach the levels we did on Saturday we will certainly give ourselves a good chance of coming away with something.”

Midfielder Clayton Green has college commitments, while defender Will Wellon and winger Carl Brown are doubts after picking up knocks against Taunton.
