EVESHAM United are set to face one of their most difficult weeks of the season, according to manager Paul Collicutt.

The Robins travel to fifth-placed Taunton Town tomorrow (3pm) before making the journey to promotion-chasing Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday (7.45pm).

With Evesham sitting 10 points behind the play-off places in ninth, Collicutt knows the back-to-back games in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West could be key to their ambitions this season.

And he said his players were relishing the challenge of going up against the two top-five sides.

“We have got a difficult week, probably our most difficult this season,” he said.

“Taunton and Swindon Supermarine are two very good sides and we are really looking forward to both games.

“There is still a long way to go yet, so it is important we keep putting pressure on the teams above us.”

Taunton defeated Evesham 3-0 at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium last October and Collicutt admitted it was one of the low points of their campaign.

“It was probably our worst home performance of the season, so that is one of the reasons why I am really looking forward to this game,” he said.

“We didn’t play well that day and, when you look at our league form, we have conceded 12 goals at home all season and three of them came against Taunton.

“On the day, we didn’t perform but we will go there today and give them a run for their money.”

Collicutt is hopeful of having defender Liam Harding, who has recovered from a thigh injury, and the versatile Jared Wilson, back from his honeymoon, available again.

However, midfielder Nick Stanley, who missed Evesham’s 0-0 draw against Shortwood United last Saturday, is a doubt.

“Nick has got a problem with his wisdom teeth,” Collicutt added.

“He has to go to the dentist to get one, possibly two, taken out and that’s the reason why he wasn’t involved last weekend.

“They’ve gone a bit septic, so he was not in the right state to be involved against Shortwood.

“But we are hopeful he will be in the squad to face Taunton.”
