EVESHAM United hit back from 2-0 down for a point from a 2-2 draw with play-off hopefuls Banbury United in front of the biggest Jubilee Stadium crowd of the season.

The Robins, watched by 331 fans, had a strong wind behind them and started the Southern League Division One South and West clash better as Nick Stanley's 30-yard free-kick went close.

Adam Mann almost scored from a Clayton Green cross but Banbury came back and a George Nash effort was saved by keeper Kevin Sawyer.

The hosts had the best of the last quarter with Mann going close.

But, a minute into injury-time, a poor clearance by Evesham saw Banbury go ahead through Callum White, who fired the ball across Sawyer from a narrow angle into the back of the net.

Banbury started brightly in the second half and went 2-0 up in the 52nd minute when Darius Browne crossed low and Ricky Johnson slotted home from close range.

Sawyer them made great saves to deny Zac McEachran and Nash.

In the 73rd minute, Evesham came back when the ball fell to substitute Jared Wilson 15 yards out inside the penalty area down the left.

Wilson hit a superb drive across the goal with the ball hitting the inside of the far post before nestling into the back of the net.

Banbury struck the post and Johnson missed a one-on-one with Sawyer.

In the 85th minute, Evesham equalised when the Banbury keeper could only palm a cross to Lance Smith, who levelled from eight yards.

Evesham went up to eighth in the table.
