PERSHORE Town lost 2-1 to Pilkington XXX at the 2020SolarPV Stadium in Midland League Division One.

The visitors enjoyed more possession in the early stages but Town opened the scoring after 14 minutes.

Good work by Jacob Snape set up Danny Ludlow to score with a fierce left-footed strike from just inside the area.

Pilkington, however, equalised with a massively deflected shot which found its way into the net after 29 minutes.

Town were unlucky not to take the lead when Steve Webb's strike went just wide and Danny Carter's right-footed effort was pushed onto the post by the keeper.

The visitors, however, scored on the stroke of half-time when Connor Leek broke and took on his defender to score with a right-footed strike past keeper George Harris, who was in for the injured Andy Yarnold.

Both teams had chances to score in the second half with the visitors twice going close in the space of a few minutes.

Town also had further good efforts, including James Walker's header narrowly missing the post from a corner and a well-worked free-kick with Jacob Snape again testing the keeper.

Sixteenth-placed Town's next match is at Racing Club Warwick on January 2 followed by home games versus Cadbury Athletic on January 9 and Coventry United on January 12.

Littleton's visit to Pelsall Villa was postponed and they return to action at home to Southam United on January 2.
