MANAGER Paul Collicutt has insisted Evesham United have got “nothing to fear” as they attempt to topple leaders Cinderford Town at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Cinderford have opened up a six-point gap at the top of Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West after suffering just one defeat in their first 20 games.

And Collicutt says his players are well aware of the scale of the task as the Gloucestershire side also hold the best defensive record, having conceded a mere 11 goals in the league.

However, wins at high-flying North Leigh and Tiverton Town have showed Evesham revel in the underdog tag and Collicutt said his side are determined to upset the odds again.

“I think we raise our game against the better sides, so I am looking forward to the Cinderford game,” the Robins manager said.

“I know it’s going to be a tough game but we have got nothing to fear and we will go out there, give it our best shot and hopefully come away with a positive result.”

After stunning Tiverton 3-2 last weekend, Evesham drew 1-1 at home to lowly Marlow in midweek but Collicutt said he was still pleased with what his players had achieved in recent weeks.

“In the changing room afterwards it felt like a loss as we were very disappointed (to draw against Marlow),” he said.

“But it is really difficult to knock the players when they have gone and won five out of their last seven matches.

“We know that if we had played anything like we had done at the weekend, we would have won that game by three or four goals, but we didn’t and have got to move on.

“We now face a side who have lost only once in 20 games.

“They have got the best defensive record in the league, so we know that we have got our work cut out, but we are all excited about the challenge.”

United defender Linden Dovey has been ruled out of tomorrow's clash after suffering a “nasty gash” against Marlow.

Midfielder Ashley Williams is suspended for ninth-placed Evesham after seeing red in the last-gasp 3-2 success at Tiverton.
