STRUGGLING Pershore Town have appointed their third manager of the season.

Ex-Littleton assistant boss Glen Brotherton, who replaced Scott Walsh earlier in the campaign, has left by mutual consent, with his job taken by Quentin Townsend.

Worcester-born Townsend, a former Bishop Perowne College pupil and Hereford United defender, managed Pershore’s Midland League Division One rivals Southam United until mid-September.

Townsend, who started as a young professional at Wolverhampton Wanderers and also played for Pershore, had been a previous target for fifth-from-bottom Town but was always managing elsewhere.

The 38-year-old said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Pershore, where I enjoyed some great times in the past as a player.

“My aim is to focus on getting points on the board and getting this club up the table, where it reflects the quality in the squad more realistically than it currently does.”

A club spokesman said: “With the club having improved significantly off the pitch in the last couple of years, it is now hoped there can be a period of stability on the pitch and, with fresh impetus, an improvement in results.”
